Scenic Byway Designation

Designate scenic segments of local rural highways for special protection measures under the federal Scenic Byway program. Under this program, the community chooses the protection measures that are appropriate for the byway, and these may include litter control, sign regulations, design guidelines, land use controls or similar measures intended to maintain the attractiveness and rural character of the roadway. The protection measures are spelled out in a corridor management plan that must be approved by the State Department of Transportation.
