Pike County Courthouse Rehabilitation

The need for rehabilitation of the Pike County Courthouse was included in the 2010 Pike County comprehensive plan, as was an activity in the work program for the county, to restore the courthouse once funding became available. Thanks largely to a SPLOST, the restoration of the Pike County Courthouse, as well as the new addition to the Courthouse was begun in March 2012 and completed in early 2013. The historic Pike County Courthouse is a community landmark. It has been utilized in the past as a movie set for such films as "Fried Green Tomatoes." In recent years, major work was needed on the structure as well as an expansion for additional county offices. This restoration shows the success of a significant local comprehensive plan short term work program item. The project is also a major success in regards to the ongoing downtown Zebulon square revitalization.
