Emergency Solutions Grants Program (ESGP) Program Description | Downloads & Related Links | Contact Information "If you are looking for homeless assistance for yourself or someone you know, please visit our Homeless Assistance Directory Program DescriptionThe Emergency Solutions (formerly "Shelter") Grants (ESG) Program provides outreach, shelter, rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention and related services to persons experiencing homelessness, or for persons in danger of becoming homeless, throughout the state. Community assistance is provided by local government entities and non-profit organizations utilizing State Housing Trust Fund for the Homeless Commission (HTF) and Federal HUD ESG funds. This program is principally designed to be the first step in a continuum of assistance to enable homeless individuals and families to move toward independent living as well as to prevent homelessness. The Department of Community Affairs is announcing the 2012 application process for the Emergency Solutions (formerly “Shelter”) Grants (ESG) program. The ESG program is designed to provide housing or service resources with the goal of stable housing outcomes for “eligible” persons as defined by HUD. The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has transitioned to an online application process this year. Workshops are scheduled as follows: Macon 2/21, Savannah 2/22, Valdosta 2/22, Albany 2/22, Augusta 2/23, Norcross 2/24, Athens 2/24, Gainesville 2/27, Dalton 2/27 and Columbus 2/28.
