Amal Heights is a 192-unit multifamily community located in Atlanta, Georgia, 163 of the units are affordable to families earning 60% or less of the area median income with the remaining 29 units having no income restrictions.  Amal Heights was originally constructed in 1990 and 1991 utilizing Federal and State Low Income Housing Tax Credits.  The renovation, being financed in part with Exchange dollars, will allow the property to increase energy efficiency through the installation of new windows and exterior doors, installation of new siding and roofs, increased insulation in attics and walls; installation of new energy star appliances in the kitchen and the installation of new more energy efficient water heaters and HVAC units.  It is anticipated that the average apartment will have decreased utility bills of $75 to $100 per month depending on the number of individuals living in the apartment.

Additionally the project is projected to preserve 4 full-time non-construction on-site positions and create 1 new non-construction on-site positions.  Further the renovation is projected to create 150 full-time equivalent construction jobs.
