Auburn Pointe is situated in a high profile location, in close proximity to the Georgia State Capitol, State offices, Fulton County offices, the Atlanta Central Business District, Georgia State University, Turner Field, Phillips Arena, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site. The community is close to all of Atlanta’s major highways (I-20 E/W, I-75/85 N/S), adjacent to the MARTA King Memorial train station, and served by three MARTA bus routes, providing convenient access to the residents. Streetscapes will feature various distinctive facades and pedestrian-friendly streets.
The second phase of onsite development at Auburn Pointe will be located on 6.43 acres. Ashley Auburn Pointe I will consist of 154 multi-family residential units, comprised of (i) 59 1-bedroom units; (ii) 81 2-bedroom units; and (iii) 14 3-bedroom units. This mixed income community will be comprised of 60% affordable units and 40% market rate units. The unit types include one, two, and three-bedroom units. The variety of floor plans and affordability levels will allow Ashley Auburn Pointe I to be marketable to a diverse resident population. The total development cost for Ashley Auburn Pointe I is approximately $18 million dollars. The Ashley Auburn Pointe I project is being implemented with strong support by the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta Housing Authority, and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. This community is projected to preserve approximately 201 jobs and create 9 new ones.
Ashley Auburn Pointe I will be rich in amenities. Dishwashers, in sink disposals, microwaves, and washers and dryers will be standard in every unit. Construction will include mechanical system and HVAC upgrades, current water conservation techniques, efficient energy management systems, indoor air quality solutions, fire and security systems, and consistent maintenance services as outlined in the guidelines from Georgia Power. The units will be pre-wired for security.
Community amenities for Ashley Auburn Pointe I include a gazebo, barbeque and picnic areas, walking trails, tot lots, and a playground, library and business center, as well as meeting and event space. Ashley Auburn Pointe I will also incorporate an actively programmed community space. Residents will also have access to the Auburn Pointe I Community Center. This expansive community center will offer residents access to a well equipped meeting rooms, a business center, event facilities, a library, and a swimming pool.
Ashley Auburn Pointe I has been designed to meet certification through the EarthCraft Multifamily Program for 2006 IECC Climate Zone 3 – Mixed Humid Climate. The EarthCraft Multifamily Program is sponsored by the Southface Energy Institute. Through the EarthCraft Multifamily certification process, Ashley Auburn Pointe I will also earn ENERGY STAR certification. Properties certified by the EarthCraft program meet strict energy efficiency criteria in the planning, construction, and operational phases. Ashley Auburn Pointe I uses resource efficient design and building materials, careful construction waste management and recycling, and energy efficient building envelopes and systems to lower the environmental impact of construction and to reduce the resource consumption by residents. In addition, Ashley Auburn Pointe I will use photovoltaic solar panels where feasible to provide common area electricity.
