Netscape Help: Installing
the Acrobat Plugin for MacIntosh
You may want to print out these instructions
first to be sure that you have them as you are installing.
Click on the button to download the Adobe Acrobat Installer for MacIntosh and
Netscape.
Remember where you download it to so that
you can run the program later. You might want to just save it to the
Desktop for easy reference. If you receive a message about downloading a
"Application/Octet-Stream" just click on the "Save" button and save the file
to your hard drive.
Shut down your browser.
Double-Click on a file that says Acrobat Installer
that you just downloaded. It is in the same location where you saved the file
that you downloaded and follow the instructions from the installer.
Once the installer is finished restart your browser and view the PDF.
If for some reason you can not view the PDF after performing the above steps you can do the following to make sure that the install worked correctly and if not correct the problem.
Click on Options and choose General Prefrences.
Click on the Helpers Tab. Scroll through and find the entry for Portable Document Format in the list of types.
Click on the PDF type to highlight it and then click on the edit button
Make sure that Mime type: says application/pdf, Suffixes says pdf and the Plug-In Radio button is selected with PDFViewer being the plug-in that is being used. If any of these aren't that way change them to the correct value.
This should allow you to view PDF's from within the browser.
