Georgia Statewide
Waste Composition Computer Model
Waste composition data plays a critical role in solid waste system planning and design. Data are used in determining the quantity of material available for recovery, measuring the effectiveness of existing recycling programs, and right-sizing solid waste and recycling facilities.
The cost and level of resources associated with conducting these studies are prohibitive for many counties. DCA recognized the need for an alternative for estimating waste stream composition and commissioned R. W. Beck, Inc. to develop the Waste Composition Computer model to offer counties a cost-effective calculator.
